Pear BranchThe Recap

Can you tell I’m behind?

I feel like with this new eating plan, I’ve been in the kitchen cooking all day.  I think now I have some food prepped to help me get ahead, but it definitely has been an adjustment.  So lately my time has been filled with cooking, errands, chores, and homeschool, which means I’ve been squeezing in my runs.

Of course, Monday’s run was during gymnastics on the Linear Trail in Manhattan.  That’s the first picture which is from the Pecan Circle Entrance.  I assume these are pecan trees in a row.  I have no idea.  They don’t have their leaves yet.  I couldn’t help playing with this picture a bit.  I called this one Green Carpet, which then in turn reminded me of the 1970s green shag carpet we had in our house when I was in elementary school.  When I played with my Barbies I always pretended it was grass.  I remember being kind of bummed when my parents tore it out and put in boring beige carpet.  It’s funny the things your remember and the things you don’t from your childhood.

And then today, I went for a run after my husband got home during the last 30 minutes of roasting a chicken in the oven.  It was dreary today and I had planned to do a non-picture run because I didn’t want my camera to get wet.  But then it cleared out and was sunny around 4:00 so that was kind of nice, but I still didn’t take my camera.  I just ran with my phone.  I wasn’t going to take any pictures at all because I wanted to get back to my roasting chicken.

Pretty Field

But the photographer in me won out and I had to snap a few phone pictures.

What was really awesome was today I felt strong.  This was the first run in a long time without the pack.  I never thought 6 extra pounds made that much difference, but perhaps it does.  I felt like light and there was more of a bounce in my step than I’ve had in ages.  It was a nice change and I felt for the first time that maybe I really could start to race.  I found one at the end of the month, but I’m just waiting till I do one speed workout to see how I feel.  I’m hoping to get to the track on Friday.

Anyway, that’s the quick recap.  I just wanted to share my pictures and check in with you all.  Thanks for reading.  Talk to you soon.
